Born in Campobasso in 1988, Amedeo Cicchese graduated with highest honors at Conservatory “L. Perosi” in Campobasso at the age of 17.
He is a winner of the prestigious “Premio Giuseppe Sinopoli” prize which was conferred with highest honors in 2014 by Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Italian Republic,
Amedeo has won more than 30 national and international competitions, including special mentions.
Amedeo Cicchese made his solo debut at the age of 16 perfoming the Concerto in C Major of Haydn, Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, and the Schumann Cello Concerto. Solo appearances followed in China, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, and Turkey.
Riccardo Muti appointed him Principal Cellist of the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini (Ravenna, Italy). Solo appearances with the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the China Youth Symphony Orchestra (Grand Theater, Shanghai & Sala Santa Cecilia Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome)
He has performed under the direction of Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Fabio Luisi, Paavo Jarvi, Christoph Eschenbach, Myung-whun Chung, Riccardo Chailly, and Tan Dun.
He made his debut with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, at Suntory Hall, conducted by Tan Dun and included performances by Yundi Li and Ryu Goto on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary Suntory Hall Festival Final Concert.
Since 2015 he is the Principal Cellist at the Orchestra of Teatro Regio in Turin (appointed by Maestro Gianandrea Noseda), and is regularly invited as Guest Principal Cello with orchestras such as the Filarmonica della Scala of Milano and the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.
Active as a chamber musician, he won Italy’s Premio Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition in Florence and the International Competition “Premio Trio di Trieste” (both competitions are members of the International Federation of Music Competitions of Geneva).
