Urban received her Master of Art degree in Piano Performance, summa cum laude from the Academy of Music in Zagreb. She also studied at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot. Her musicianship has been strongly influenced by Rudolf Kehrer, Tatjana Nikolaeva, and Eugene Indjic.
Urban has an international career, appearing in the most renowned international concert halls, such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, and the Vredenburg in Utrecht. In Paris she performed in the concert series of the Fondation Lili et Nadia Boulanger, Cité des Arts, Musée d’Orsay, and the Fondation Custodia. In April 2012 she was invited to give the 40th anniversary recital in the Philip Lorentz Memorial Concert Series in California, the prestigious American keyboard series that presents only the greatest masters including Emanuel Ax, Garrick Ohlsson, Leon Fleisher, and others.
As a chamber musician she has performed with soloists of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Monnaie Orchestra Brussels, and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
Her recordings and recitals have been broadcast all over the globe on Radio BBC 3, Radio France Musique, ORF Radio in Austria, Radio 4 in the Netherlands, Radio Klara in Belgium, SWR Germany, by radio and television in Croatia and Slovenia, and by Valley Public Radio of America in the United States.
Her versatile talents have made her a great recording artist, festival director, competition juror, and university lecturer.
Urban is a committed teacher having her own piano academy in Amsterdam and giving masterclasses and lectures worldwide. Her students have taken part in, and won international competitions. In Paris she has taught at the École Supérieure César Franck and the Conservatoire de Neuilly. In 2012, she was Artist in Residence at the California State University in Fresno.
Currently she is collaborating with the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, exil.ar
